Behavioral Targeting
This represents sort of a "behavior controlled targeting" method: The behavior of the web visitor is monitored according to specific criteria (e.g. click streams). The information gained facilitates the selection and display of contents or advertising choices that are supposed to be highly relevant to this visitor. Therefore he/she will only see contents matching his/her long-term or short-term behavior patterns. Another version is "predictable behavior targeting". In this case existing user profiles provide information about similar behavior patterns. The investment for behavior marketing is quite high and not always useful: A scale of about 1 million unique visitors per month and upward will provide enough data in the statistical records for a meaningful cluster creation.
